Scareware fools millions of broadband users
by David Allen

A new wave of terror tactics is fooling computer users into downloading fake anti virus software onto their computers, which puts their personal and financial details at risk.
According to the security firm Symantec, as many as forty million people could have become a victim of this scam in the past year!
There are an estimated two hundred and fifty different versions of this scareware around at the moment, with some criminals earning an estimated £750,000 per year!
The software is advertised to users through a pop up window which looks just like a genuine pop up from Windows or other well known firms.
These pop ups suggest that the computer is infected and that the user should download the anti virus software at a cost of around £60!
