BBC Trust blocks iPlayer sharing

The iPlayer from the BBC was on course to provide content from other channels such as ITV and Channel Four, but it seems that these plans may have been a bit premature.

It seems to be down to the BBC Trust as to why iPlayer users will not be able to watch all of their favourite TV shows through the service.

This plan would have served both ITV and Channel Four better than it would the BBC, so now that the commercial broadcasters have been sent packing by the BBC Trust, and alternatives will need to be looked into.

The main issue for the BBC Trust is the problem of combining both BBC and commercial content on the same platform, as well as there not being enough value in the deal for TV Licence payers.
