BBC unveils Democracy Live website

by Darren Allan

The BBC has launched a new website providing live feeds and on-demand footage from a variety of democratic institutions in both the UK and Europe.

Democracy Live is fronted by a video wall of eight screens, playing out the latest happenings from the European Parliament to the House of Commons and Lords. Whether that’s exciting debates, or Lord Toffington-Smythe falling gently asleep.

The site has a considerable wealth of other content, too, including a guide to various political institutions and historic moments such as the first time a televised speech was given in the Commons by MP Ian Gow.

And the first time that Tony Blair smiled without looking like a lizard about to devour its prey. No, wait a minute, that one never actually happened.

Links to the BBC’s political blogs are also provided, and guest commentators have been given a platform here.
