Fry rethinks quitting Twitter

Stephen Fry threatened to quit Twitter at the weekend, after a follower labelled him as “boring.”

The message wasn’t actually as harsh as it sounds. The user wrote that he “admired and adored” Fry, but called his tweets “a bit boring.”

Fry, who suffers from depression, says he was caught at a low moment and replied: “I’m obviously not good enough. I retire from Twitter henceforward. Bye everyone.”

The follower in question later apologised, and Stephen apologised in turn for all the flak the user took after his comment, and said he felt sheepish about the episode.

Fry tweeted: “Feeling terrible for that poor guy. He had every right to call me boring. Not his fault it caught me at a vulnerable time. Pls be nice to him.”

All’s well that ends well, as they say. At any rate – Stephen Fry, boring? They’d hardly choose a boring man to present the Quite Interesting (QI) show, now, would they?
