Twitter gets dedicated mobile device

Darren Allan

A dedicated mobile Twittering device is set to launch over in the States.

TwitterPeek is a handheld device with a colour screen and Qwerty keyboard nestling beneath.

The idea is that it gives those who don’t own a smartphone the ability to access Twitter on the move relatively cheaply.

It costs $99, and that includes unlimited connection to Twitter for the first six months. Thereafter, however, you’ll have to cough up $8 per month.

And when you start to add that monthly fee up, TwitterPeek doesn’t seem quite so budget friendly. The other option is to fork out $199 for a lifetime service, but that isn’t exactly what we’d call cheap either.

We shall just have to see how the market reacts to the device, but we don’t anticipate a stampede of buyers…
