Cuatro and Flumotion launch 3D WebTV

Cuatro, one of Spain’s main terrestrial TV channels, has joined with streaming software company, Flumotion, to develop a pioneering WebTV service.

The new service, called ‘play cuatro’ uses Flumotion’s content delivery network and WebTV technology.

Cuatro already offers content via the web, on portals such as YouTube.

‘play cuatro’ will build on this success while ensuring the quality of the viewing experience.

The 3D interface provides navigation via a video wall, rather than through text and static images.

Last month Flumotion won the ‘Best Streaming Innovation’ award for simplifying companies’ access to streaming, at the Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice Awards.
