Google shows what it keeps tabs on with Dashboard

Darren Allan

Google has launched a new service called dashboard, which is basically a summary of how you use your Google account.

It can be used to manage your Gmail account, browse to your contacts, or see which document you last modified on Google Docs. Indeed, the dashboard even keeps track of what you’ve been up to on YouTube.

In total, the dashboard covers more than twenty products and services, including Calendar, Web History, Orkut, Picasa, Talk, Reader, Alerts, Latitude and quite a few more.

On a blog post, Google commented that the dashboard is “an effort to provide [users] with greater transparency and control over their own data.”

The post continued: “The scale and level of detail of the Dashboard is unprecedented, and we’re delighted to be the first Internet company to offer this – and we hope it will become the standard.”
