The demand for in-flight broadband services has helped the satellite broadband firm to an impressive rise in profits.
Inmarsat offers high-speed broadband services, as well as in-flight broadband services, through its Swift Broadband division.
It was only in September when Inmarsat’s services were chosen by British Airways to be used on the London to New York service.
The company reported a rise of over 33 per cent in profits to over £30 million for the third quarter of the year, with Swift Broadband reporting a 10 per cent increase in turnover.
In-flight broadband has been available for six years, since the International Telecommunications Union approved a new frequency to be used specifically for in-flight mobile and satellite services.
