Traffic management for 3 Mobile broadband

The mobile broadband provider, 3, will be introducing traffic management on its network from today.

However, according to the tech site theregister.co.uk, the traffic management will be targeting P2P applications only.

Figures on how many customers this will affect are unavailable at the moment.

Another traffic management factor will be that it may only be applied on congested cells which are probably going to be the ones that have the most users online at any one time.

These could be airports, cities, shopping centres and train stations.

The mobile broadband provider is the first firm in the UK to introduce some sort of traffic management onto its system, but no doubt other providers will be watching carefully to see how this works and how it goes down with customers.
