ECB Chairman speaks out over free cricket

It seems that by recommending that the Ashes live cricket series should be returned to terrestrial TV, the report has overlooked the likely responses from the sporting bodies on the matter.

However, following the announcement, the chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Charles Clarke, has launched an attack on the plan.

According to Charles Clarke, the BBC did not even go after the screening rights when they came up for renewal and he doubts that the broadcaster would show them fully even if it was given the Ashes.

To make things even worse, at the last round of bids the satellite broadcaster BSkyB paid £220 million for the rights to show all home test matches until the end of the 2013 season.
