O2 has pledged to improve its mobile broadband coverage by investing hundreds of millions of pounds.
The company has lagged behind rivals Orange and 3, who have 90% plus coverage for their 3G networks, whereas O2 can only muster a figure of 84%.
O2′s plans would mean building some 1,500 new network sites across the UK.
O2′s Chief Technology Officer, Derek McManus, said: “We are now aggressively accelerating our network growth programme to ensure we have significant headroom for the future and retain our focus on being number one for customer satisfaction.”
