Shop safely online with Ofcom tips

Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat. Along with the wallets of online retailers, who are feeling the boom as bargain hunters head online for their Xmas shopping, avoiding the crowds in the process.

With that in mind, Ofcom has issued some practical advice on how to ensure your online Christmas shopping spree is a safe one.

The tips are imparted in a three minute video, and include some pretty obvious stuff such as having up to date anti-virus software and a firewall installed. And only using well known online shopping sites.

There’s also a reminder that you should use a credit card, not a debit card, when purchasing goods over £100. That way you can claim the money back if something goes wrong with the transaction.

And all this to the accompaniment of some easy listening style guitar riffs in the background.
