The first iPhone vulnerability was not a big deal. It wasn’t even that dangerous. All it really did was change the iPhone’s wallpaper with an image of Rick Astley. Security vendor F-Secure has discovered a new worm for the iPhone. It showed that this new worm has botnet capabilities and is more threatening to iPhone users.
Like the first exploit, the vulnerability only affects jailbroken iPhones, still, with SSH protocol enabled and unchanged default passwords. It hasn’t spread that much but if it does, the results will be devastating. Apple would no doubt get the upper hand on this as it would deter some people from jailbreaking their iPhone’s, a losing battle being fought by Apple – until now.
For those who don’t know, a botnet is a number of Internet computers that, although their owners are unaware of it, have been set up to forward transmissions (including spam or viruses) to other computers on the Internet.
