Project Canvas may not go live until 2011, according to the BBC’s director of future media and technology Erik Huggers, if the BBC Trust does not get a move on and make a decision on giving the project its approval.
Speaking at the Media Festival, Mr Huggers went on to speak about how he hopes that the BBC Trust makes the decision sooner rather than later, in order to launch Canvas at some point during 2010.
Without the BBC Trust’s approval, the project has been in limbo, with much of the work involving investment of time and money being put on hold until the decision is made.
The problem is that the BBC Trust does not have to make the decision within any fixed time, which causes a problem for the BBC as it tries to push Canvas.
