Sky launches fresh attack on Canvas

The satellite broadcaster BSkyB has launched yet another attack on the multi channel venture, Project Canvas.

This has been a back and forth game since the web based TV service, backed by the BBC, BT, ITV and Five, was first announced.

According to a report in the Guardian, BSkyB accuses the BBC of virtually rail roading the service, taking little notice of how it could affect other broadcasters.

It seems that BSkyB has issued the BBC Trust with a new document which claims the BBC is in a unique position, with guaranteed public funding and that Project Canvas does not fall within the BBC’s current obligations.

The bottom line is that BSkyB feels that the BBC should not be involved in Canvas, not while it is receiving the TV Licence fee.

Go on BBC…give monopoly SKY a bit of competition. They charge too much for outdated technology.
