Swindon to offer Wi-Fi access

Community Wi-Fi is a dream that has become a reality in some areas but for some reason it has never taken off in others.

However, Swindon is looking to buck the trend, as it will be collaborating with Digital City UK who will be installing a Wi-Fi network that covers the entire town.

Residents will be able to take advantage of free broadband and free line rental and with no connection fee this could be one of the best broadband packages around, if only there was not a usage cape in place.

However, for those users who require more broadband, there will be the option to buy 20 Mb upgrades in addition to the normal allowance.

According to Digital City UK, the upgrades will work out considerably cheaper than a normal broadband subscription.

Work is expected to begin next month and could be completed by April next year.
