Windows 8 could be launched in 2012!

With Windows 7 only a month into the launch phase, talk of Windows 8 is already starting and according to Microsoft the new operating system will be coming out in 2012.

Apparently, a slideshow displaying the new concept has been shown to developers at the Microsoft professional developer’s conference (PDC).

Windows 8 is merely a codeword for the operating system and indeed this OS is not intended for mobile or PCs, as it will be a server OS.

However, the London Olympics, being staged in 2012, would be an ideal platform from which to launch a new operating system for PCs, with Windows 8 logos and advertising placed in very prominent positions.

Can Microsoft resist the temptation to launch a new product?

uh, I don’t see any possible reason why windows would ever consider releasing windows 8 in 2012. I think that by then people will be comfortable with 7 and a new switch will just be annoying for most. I say stay with 7 until 2013-2014 and then move on over.
