The free-to-view satellite service, Freesat, is growing according to plan, in fact the broadcaster has now passed the 750,000 customer mark and is well on target to hit one million users during the first quarter of 2010.

According to the managing director of Freesat, Emma Scott, the company managed to sell over two hundred thousand set top boxes in the last quarter.

During the same quarter, BSkyB only managed to sign up 94,000 new customers.

Out of those sales, it is estimated that around eighty per cent are for the HD TV set top box, and around fifty per cent of those set top boxes were made by Humax.

With Christmas coming and the rollout of the BBC iPlayer in December and the ITV Player in the early part of 2010, one million users does not look impossible.
