Boxee, the Internet TV service, has informed its users that a beta version of its set-top-box will be available on 7 December.
It is said to offer easier navigation and a re-designed interface.
Boxee said at the beginning of November that it has entered into a partnership with a consumer electronics company to make the STB.
Further details are expected at the launch, but the new box is expected to allow users to search for TV shows and movies, and will offer a queuing function similar to the one found on Hulu.
Boxee, which was spun off from the Xbox Media Center software, allows users to download content from their hard drive for viewing on a TV.
