Tooway chosen for French satellite broadband

The satellite broadband provider, Tooway, has been chosen to provide broadband services in France by the French Telecoms provider SFR.

As in the UK, France also has areas where broadband connections are not possible because of the distance that the areas are from the nearest exchange.

According to SFR, this new service will be introduced as the Satellite Internet Pack to consumers.

However, although some details were announced, nothing was released on the how much Tooway will be charging for the equipment and broadband service.

Currently the Tooway satellite broadband service uses the Eutelsat Hot Bird 6 satellite but, as from the latter part of next year, the services will be extended through the next gen KA SAT satellites.

This service will be able to provide a further two million European homes with satellite broadband.
