BBC releases Xmas HD listings

For those viewers who can receive BBC HD there has been a little hint of what content they can expect to be seeing, but a blog posting by the BBC’s Head of HD, Danielle Nagler, gave a few little tasters of what’s to come.

These include David Tennant’s final two appearances as Doctor Who on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, along with the ‘Doctor Who: Dreamland’ animation.

Films will include ‘The Incredibles’ on Christmas Day, and ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End’ on Boxing Day, while other highlights include ‘The Tsarina’s Slippers’ from the Royal Opera House, Julia Donaldson’s ‘The Gruffalo’ on Christmas Day, Top Gear’s trip to Bolivia on December 27, Jools Holland’s ‘Hootenanny’ on New Year’s Eve and a remake of science fiction classic ‘Day Of The Triffids’.

Christmas HD content is a difficult issue for broadcasters, as much of the content is seasonal, with less opportunities for repeats.
