SES Astra takes HD channels over 100

December 17, 2009

The satellite provider SES Astra can now boast more than one hundred high definition channels following the launch of five HD channels for Digital+, the Spanish pay per view broadcaster.

These new channels include HD versions of Eurosport, National Geographic, MTVN and Fox.

The channels form part of the main high definition push by Digital+ this winter.

Astra can easily claim to be the premiere European satellite channel carrier, providing content for BSkyB and the BBC in the UK, as well as content throughout the continent reaching virtually all countries.

According to the COO of SES Astra, Alexander Oudendijk, now that HD channels have crossed the one hundred barrier, it is obvious that this platform is gaining a hold on the sector and growing fast.
