LG has announced that it has designed the world’s thinnest LCD panel, which is a mere 2.6mm thick. Or 2.6mm thin, perhaps.
Yes, 2.6mm. That’s a quarter of a centimetre, or a tenth of an inch. Or about the same thickness as an After Eight mint. Ish.
Although it’s a little bigger in the other dimensions, with the panel the company is showcasing at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 being a 42 inch model.
It offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and a 120Hz refresh rate. And a lot of wow factor, no doubt.
Our two year old plasma screen is starting to look a bit of a hulking thing in comparison.
