BBC makes almost £8 billion for the UK

The BBC has come out fighting to counter the claims that are currently being thrown at it.

A report about to be published by the BBC claims that it generates £7.6 billion for the UK economy.

The report will state that if the corporation was sold off it would cost the country around £4 billion and independent TV and Radio companies would lose out to the tune of around £1.4 billion if the BBC went commercial.

The report has been commissioned by the chief operating officer, Caroline Thompson, in an attempt to slow down the barrage of attacks on the BBC over the way that it spends the TV Licence fee.

Yet, this report could have an adverse affect as it will show that forty per cent of the BBC’s content comes from independent producers.
