The over the internet phone service Skype has announced that it will be delivering 720p HD quality video calling at thirty frames a second and with a resolution of 1280 x 720.
HD quality video calls can be made via any HD TV with an internet connection, such as the LG 26 inch LCD and Plasma HDTV and the Panasonic 201 Viera Cast HDTV.
Both these manufactures are apparently offering specially designed webcams that have been created with Skype in mind.
This is a good move for Skype as for some time the firm has been struggling to find a direction.
Maybe this could be the push that the company needs to take it to new levels and with the interest in HDTV growing it could just work.
