Google Nexus One estimated 20,000 sales in first week

Google’s new smartphone hasn’t exactly set the world on fire in its debut week over in the US.

Firstly, there have been problems with Google’s sluggish customer support system (which is email driven), and now the Nexus One’s estimated initial sales figures aren’t exactly going to cause jaws to drop.

According to app analysis firm Flurry, the phone has shifted something like 20,000 units in its first week.

To put this in perspective, the company’s approximations for the Motorola Droid ran to 250,000 in its debut week, and the iPhone 3GS clocked up a figure of 1.6 million.

As Flurry admits, this is hardly an exact science. The company said: “Key business decisions and other factors related to the Nexus One launch make an ‘apples-to-apples’ comparison difficult.”

However, it’s clear that the numbers are certainly on the disappointing side for Google.
