3ality to launch Sky 3D HDTV services

With the Satellite broadcaster BSkyB’s plans for a 3D HDTV channel still being mapped out, the broadcaster has been making deals to ensure that it has everything in place in time for the rollout.

One such deal is with the camera maker 3ality Digital.

BSkyB has agreed terms with the firm, which will see Sky TV using its 3D camera rigs and image processing equipment, which are essential for 3D HDTV broadcasts.

Using the right equipment is vital to the success of the channel, as if it starts off badly then BSkyB will have a hard job winning the audience back and the doubters will have a field day.

Sky 3D will be a landmark when it is launched this year, after which watching TV may never be the same again.
