The BBC iPlayer may have been going since December 2007, but it seems that there is no stopping its growth, with December 2009 being the first month that the iPlayer reached 115 million programme requests from viewers.
The programme that came out on top was in fact Top Gear the South American special, with more than one million viewers, while radio also featured high in the download request with Terry Wogan’s final show.
The iPlayer is now available in over twenty devices and, according to the BBC, it is fast becoming established with games console users, with one in eight of all requests coming from a Nintendo Wii and the Sony PS3.
This works out at a seventy four per cent increase for the month alone.
