What could be seen as yet another cost cutting exercise at the BBC is being planned under the guise of a strategic review of its marketing operations.
This review will cover all aspects of the BBC including TV, radio and digital services.
The plan is to make sure that the corporation is delivering the best possible service in order to get its content in front of the right audience.
Amazingly the BBC Marketing, Communications and Audience department employs around five hundred people and it seems likely that some of these jobs may be at risk following such an intensive review of the operations.
The review has been ordered by the BBC director general, Mark Thompson and is likely to take around twenty weeks to complete.
