Apple wants lower priced TV content

The computer giant Apple wants to offer customers of iTunes lower charges for episodes of TV shows, but it wants the studios to pay the price.

The company is pressing TV producers to accept lower prices for content made available through the iTunes site.

According to a UK report in the Financial Times, Apple is proposing that the US site charges just $1 per episode, which is almost half of the current $1.99 being charged for an episode of the consumers’ favourite TV shows.

There could also be plans for a monthly subscription service to iTunes.

This could cost around $30 per month and would give the subscriber access to content from top producers such as CBS, Disney, News Corp, Time Warner and Viacom.
