BBC pays out £54 million for stars
by David Allen

The recession may technically be over, but there are people struggling to keep up with their bills and this includes the TV Licence, so it is hard to imagine how they feel about the BBC’s announcement that it spent £54 million paying its stars.
These are the people that are earning in excess of £150,000 per year.
True to form the BBC refused to name the individuals or exactly who earns what, or even give the number of highly paid stars so that an average could be worked out.
But one thing can be worked out; the big name stars are taking 1.55 per cent of the TV Licence revenue in salaries.
In total the BBC pays out £229 million in salaries, which works out at 6.56 per cent of the total TV Licence fee revenue.
