DVDs to be sold through vending machines
by David Allen

As the digital revolution continues to press ahead, older digital technology is having to reinvent itself just to keep its head above water and this is true for the DVD.
Once heralded as the height of technology, the DVD is fast falling behind in the race for consumers’ cash.
The one thing that holds DVDs back is the nature of rentals, which links back to the eighties when video shops were popping up everywhere.
The DVD has tried to adapt and has done well to survive this long, but with the likes of Woolworths and DVD Rental stores closing down, the DVD needs a new outlet and this could come in the shape of something that dates back to the early twentieth century.
It seems that the big growth product for 2010 according to the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice at Deloitte, will be DVD Vending Machines!
