£20 million for Irish TV projects

Only a couple days after the Hillsborough Castle Agreement, it seems that a little deal on the side could mean the beginning of a new row between the different parties that make up the government of Northern Ireland.

The row centres around an alleged ‘side deal’ worth £20 million, of which £12 million would go towards the Irish Language Broadcast Fund and the remaining £8 million to capital projects such as the development of properties etc.

The funding, promised by the British Government, is supported by one side and condemned by the other side, making it impossible for such a deal to work.

In fact there is no mention of where the cash originally came from either, was it from the TV Licence fee or other sources?
