Court cannot intervene in Mediaset/Sky saga

A court in Rome has effectively washed its hands of the case between Mediaset and News Corp, claiming that it is unable to intervene in the negotiations between the companies.

The issue arises from Mediaset’s refusal to carry advertising for Sky Italia.

Following this court ruling News Corp is planning a European offensive by going through the European commission in order to get their way.

This is just part of a long term battle between the owner of Mediaset – the Italian Prime Minister, and Rupert Murdoch of News Corp.

The two broadcasters have been fighting over the slightest of matters for a while, so maybe it is about time that the two got together and sorted out their differences as it the viewers that are suffering from these long term disagreements.
