ASA raps Virgin Media over advert

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has been giving cable TV and broadband provider Virgin Media a hard time over one of its direct mail marketing campaigns.

The campaign claimed: “Delivering TV, broadband and phone down the same fibre optic cable is better value and keeps everything in one simple bill.”

But BSkyB claimed that Virgin Media was saying that it offers better packages than Sky does and that customers of Sky cannot get one single bill for all of the services that they subscribe to.

Virgin Media denies that its direct mail campaign suggests this but the ASA ruled that the advert must not be used again in its current form.
