Apple gets legal with HTC

Darren Allan

Apple has launched a lawsuit against HTC for alleged infringement of technology patents.

And not just a couple of patents, either, but twenty the iPhone maker has named where it reckons HTC has trod on its toes.

The infringements cover a number of bases, from the hardware design to the user interface, all relating to the iPhone, of course.

HTC makes a number of smartphones, including the Nexus One for Google.

The suit has been filed in the US District Court in Delaware, and Apple has also filed with the International Trade Commission in the hopes of speeding up the case, and reaching a swift resolution.

Steve Jobs commented: “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it.”

“We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours,” he concluded.
