There has been a lot of media coverage of the proposed plans by the BBC Trust to save around £600 million of TV Licence revenue by cutting back services in areas where it feels the market is not mainstream enough.
These savings could then be allocated to producing quality programming for the radio and BBC TV channels.
It seems that digital services such as the BBC iPlayer, digital TV channels, Freeview and Freesat are to remain unaffected, but is that at all possible?
There are calls for the digital TV channels BBC 3 and BBC 4 to face cutbacks, as these are seen to be a niche market as much as the ill-fated 6Music channel which promotes new talent.
The BBC Trust’s review is not set in stone as this is a draft arrangement and the start of a consultation period where members of the public are encouraged to have their say on where the BBC should be going.

How about the BBC just scrapping television licences full stop, the vast majority of people now have either Sky or cable and I for one do not even watch BBC but have to pay to do so! Why cant they just advertise like every other TV corporation?
