Despite the recession affecting retail stores in the high street, it seems that TV shopping has been benefiting from the digital switchover, with more consumers gaining access to the many shopping channels.
For one of the largest television shopping channel QVC, sales during the fourth quarter more than doubled that of the annual increase, showing a 5.9 per cent sales increase to £112.2 million, whereas the annual increase was only 2.3 per cent with overall sales for the year standing at £367.9 million.
For companies like the US-owned QVC, every time the digital switchover is completed in a region the coverage for the shopping channel increases.
This growth is set to continue for another two years until the whole of the UK has been switched over to digital TV.
