Google Buzz gets an iPhone app
by Darren Allan

Remember Google Buzz? You can’t have forgotten it already, surely? Although we must admit, we’ve already ousted it from our Gmail inbox, switching it off after only a week of experimentation.
Anyway, Buzz is Google’s attempt at integrating social networking with Gmail, bringing in a system of real-time updates that you can share with a network of followers.
It was never going to be long before the first app was released for the service, and indeed Buzzie for the iPhone has now hit the market.
What does it do? Basically, it allows you to monitor and post to your Buzz account with a slick interface, and nippier speeds than the mobile web interface.
It also uses the iPhone’s GPS to keep tabs on your location and the local Buzz around you (though it’s possible to mark your posts as private, if you wish).
There are some shortcomings, though, according to user feedback. There are several complaints stating that it doesn’t do photo attachments (or that the users in question couldn’t find that feature, at any rate).
Interestingly, even those not signed up to Buzz can use the app to browse through local feeds, though quite who’d want to pay up to do that, other than the terminally nosey, we’re not sure.
Yes, the app isn’t free. Buzzie comes with a $1.99 price tag, although that’s with a third off as an introductory offer for a short period. You have to wonder how many people will fork out the full $3.
