Asus has taken the wraps off a new netbook, the snappily named EEE PC 1005PR.
The selling point with this model is that it can handle 720p High Definition, thanks to a 10.1 inch 1366 x 768 resolution display, and a Broadcom BCM 70015 HD Decoder.
Although there is a limit to how impressive an HD picture will be on a small screen, of course.
Something called “super hybrid technology” also gives this netbook an impressive claimed battery life of 11 hours under normal usage.
The 1005PR’s processor is an Intel Atom N450, backed up with 1GB of memory, and a 250GB hard drive (with 500GB of online storage space also provided).
A webcam, wi-fi, bluetooth and Windows 7 Starter round off this Asus computer.
Pricing or release dates aren’t known yet for the UK, although the unit is expected to retail around the $400 mark in the US.
