If there is one thing that can persuade internet service providers to do exactly what an organisation wants them to do, it is by increasing the amount of money they can make out of it.
In this case the carrot is around £200 million per year and this could be made by the ISPs every year should they decide to bundle legal music downloads in with the broadband, phone and TV services already being offered to consumers.
According to the music industry body, the BPI, the UK’s larger ISPs such as BT, BSkyB, O2, Orange and TalkTalk, could be making anything between £100 and £200 million just by adding this service to the packages on offer.
Of course, for the BPI it means that there will be a new revenue stream and a slow down in illegal downloading.
