aql announces new partnerships
by Janet Harris
aql has announced a partnership with Data Select, a leading UK distributor of mobile phones, accessories and airtime.
The deal makes Data Select an integral part of the supply chain following a year in which aql has “unbundled” 3 UK’s network, selling wholesale minutes and data access into the network.
As an MVNO-Enabler aql can build virtual networks and brands on the 3 network, providing a swift and cost-effect route to market for new mobile entrants.
The deal with Data Select gives aql a supplier for handsets and mobile hardware such as broadband dongles.
Adam Beaumont, MD of aql commented – “It’s an exciting time for us – we’re actively creating a new market for the fixed line operators and providing innovative services, such as call recording, landline numbers and centrex – all on a mobile platform and available to resellers and partners under their own brand”.
Aql has also announced a partnership with specialist child safety firm, Crisp Thinking.
The companies have developed a mobile service designed to protect children from the risks of allowing them their own mobile handset.
The service combines Crisp’s software, which can detect suspicious messaging, is combined with aql’s wholesale mobile service.
Crisp Founder, Adam Hildreth, said: “The technology is unique – aql’s ability to pass the text messages sent to and from the handset into our screening engine creates a product that addresses every parent’s dilemma – the pro’s and cons of giving a child a mobile”.
