Just as the BBC plans sweeping changes across the corporation, the colour TV Licence is due to increase to £145.50, while the black and white TV Licence will rise by £1 to £49, as part of the BBC settlement agreed back in 2007.
The latest settlement sees the TV Licence increasing by three per cent for 2007 and 2008, while in 2009, 2010 and 2011 the increase is fixed at two per cent.
A new settlement will have to be agreed for the period immediatelyl after the agreement and beyond, although there could be a change of government in place by then.
The BBC has been suggesting some sweeping changes in order to maximise the money raised through the TV Licensing scheme.
