Not enough kids content on the BBC

The BBC is not producing enough quality children’s programming, according to the founder of Ragdoll Productions, Anne Wood.

The director general of the BBC, Mark Thompson, has been criticised by Anne Wood for being too quick to praise the US children’s networks like Nickelodeon and Disney for the content that they produce.

This attack on the BBC comes after the corporation announced it would make an extra £10 million a year available for children’s programming.

However, according to Anne Wood this cash comes too late.

Even with come great content available from European producers, it is America that gets the bulk of the BBC cash.

This is despite a lot of the US content not being made for educational purposes, as entertainment takes precedence.
