SNP to meet with BBC of election debates

It was only last week that broadcasters and political parties agreed terms for the much awaited general election live televised debates.

But not allowing the SNP to take part has thrown the agreement up in the air so the BBC has been meeting with the leader of the SNP, Alex Salmond, in order to see if there is any way around this issue.

The debates are initially for the main three parties, but in Scotland and Wales the political make up of parties is different and these parties feel that they should also be involved in the live studio debates.

However, the main point of the debate is that the prospective Prime Ministers are questioned and the electorate will be able to see how they perform.
