
The BBC is planning to up the stakes in the political debate sector by putting together a series of so called “Cabinet Contender” debates.
One of these debates will bring together two of the hot properties in the world of politics, Peter Mandelson and Kenneth Clark and this debate is likely to attract more attention that the debate between the prospective leaders.
There will be nine contender debates which will be aired on BBC2 in the afternoon at 2.15 pm to 3 pm.
The show will be fronted by the host of the Daily Politics programme, Andrew Neil, who is well known for taking no prisoners during interviews.
Although the Mandelson and Clarke debate is hot, it is not known if the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, and Shadow Chancellor, George Osborne, will also be going head to head on the show.
