It was announced yesterday that the satellite broadcaster BSkyB had bought 15,000 3D TVs from the Korean manufacturer LG, which is clearly a good deal for LG but is apparently not true.
The story was actually from a press release issued by LG, but somewhere along the lines, the details must have been lost in translation.
It turns out that BSkyB does have a deal with LG for 3D TVs but will be acting as an agent for LG, to supply equipment to pubs and other venues instead of providing the equipment directly.
The whole story seemed strange, as it would have meant Sky TV filling up a warehouse with these TVs on the off chance that customers would buy them.
BSkyB will still be launching the Sky 3D Channel in April for pubs, and later on in the year for households.
