God of War III unseats Final Fantasy XIII

Darren Allan

There’s another switch at the top of the all-format UK game chart as documented by Chart Track, with God of War III knocking aside Final Fantasy XIII.

PS3 exclusive God of War III becomes Sony’s second number one of the year (after Heavy Rain a few weeks ago).

It outsold the last PS2 God of War game by almost three to one, and pushed Final Fantasy XIII down to number three, with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 staying put at number two.

Although in terms of overall sales, last week Final Fantasy shifted three times as many copies as God of War managed this week (although FF was out on both Xbox and PS3 formats, and on sale for a longer period of time in the week).

In total, the Final Fantasy series’ overall global sales have hit a mind boggling 96 million units.

Elsewhere in the chart, Just Dance keeps on selling and finds itself at the number four spot.

Metro 2033 is a new entry at number five for THQ, with Wii Fit Plus at number six.

Heavy Rain falls to number seven, and Modern Warfare 2 slides to number ten, from where it’s likely to finally exit the top ten next week.

I guess you mean the Final Fantasy series global sales have hit 96 million, rather than Final Fantasy XIII alone which has only just sold 3 mil in the UK and US combined.

Yes, you’re quite right, thanks for the correction… not quite sure where my brain was at when typing that sentence ;)
