Crooks “coppa” load of Virgin cable

March 24, 2010

Some Virgin Media customers in Leeds found themselves without a service for the second time in the space of a week, thanks to thieves who once again vandalised the network yesterday.

The law-breakers ripped up fibre optic cable in the early hours of the morning, believing it to be copper cable, which is worth a fair bit of money these days.

Fibre optic cable is pretty much worthless, however, so it was a waste of time for the criminals, and not just the Virgin customers who found themselves without TV and Internet for the day.

Engineers were dispatched swiftly and the problem has now been fixed, but the people of Leeds are probably wondering if lightning is going to strike again.

A full investigation is underway by both Virgin Media and the police.
