STBs to come with Sky Player

-

New digital equipment is to get the BSkyB on-demand service Sky Player built in, allowing the service to be used without the need for a computer.

Adding these services directly into these devices is a good move by the satellite TV provider BSkyB, and follows the BBC with its iPlayer, which can also be found built into some TVs and set top boxes.

So far only Cello and 3View have agreed to include the on demand service from BSkyB into some of their products.

3View will be including the Sky Player into its set top boxes, while Cello will be installing the Sky Player into its iViewer application.

The Sky Player is free to use for subscribers of the satellite TV service, although watching live TV could cost an extra £10 per month!
